Foodland Asset Report

RichmondFoodlandAssetReport

In 2012, the Richmond Food Security Society (RFSS) conducted a research project that would identify lands available in Richmond for food production activities (e.g. community farms, gardens, schoolyard gardens, pocket markets, small to medium scale farms, etc…).

Funded by the Real Estate Foundation and the City of Richmond, RFSS has identified over 638 properties that could be used for a variety of food activities.

In addition, we interviewed a diversity of key experts (e.g. farmers, academics, school district reps) to determine how to improve land access and land availability in Richmond for farmers and other food production activities.

This important report has been finalized and is now available to the public.  Read about how Richmond could do so much more to promote food security and urban agriculture on our precious local foodland.
