New Socially Conscious Book Club Starting!

Book - CookedThe Richmond Public Library is pleased to announce a new book club “Food for Thought.” This book club will be facilitated by Richmond Food Security Society and will meet the second Wednesday of every month from 7:00-8:30pm.

“If you love reading books on topics that matter and you want to strengthen your understanding of issues that deal with topics such as food security this may be the book club for you. Everyone is welcome, but space is limited to 10 people,” said Richmond Food Security Society board member, William Dunn. “Books will be provided during the first meeting on November 13. Each meeting will be facilitated by a representative from the Richmond Food Security Society and everyone will be given the opportunity to contribute” added Dunn.

The first two books to be discussed will be “Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation” by Michael Pollan and “Salt, Sugar, Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us” by Michael Moss.

The first meeting will be November 13 at the Brighouse (Main) Branch in the 2nd floor community place, 7700 Minoru Gate.

There are 3 ways to register:

Please note: Participants have to register for each month’s meeting. So if you register for the November meeting, and then plan to attend the December, January, February meetings, and so forth, you will have to register for those months. This is like an RSVP, so the facilitator can know how many books to bring for attendees. Thanks.

This program is free and offered in English.
