King George Garden Clean Up and Rebuild
On April 18th, the Richmond Food Security Society in partnership with the East Richmond Community Association will be hosting an Earth Day garden clean up at the King George Community Garden. This will include a cleanup in the morning and rebuild of the garden plots in the afternoon.
The King George Community Garden, which is located at 12360 Cambie Road, is a gem in the community and provides many individuals and families with fresh produce throughout the year. The garden also supports senior and youth programs and the Plots to Plates program which grows fresh produce for the food bank and community meals.
This revitalization of the garden is possible because of the valuable support from Harvest Power and Rod’s Building Supply, who have supplied materials for the project. As well, Nature’s Path Organic and Kin’s Farm Market will be providing food for our volunteers and the City of Richmond will provide clean up bins, tools and mulch.
The resources and support offered by our community partners is a great boost to the project, but to carry it through to completion, we need your help. If you would like to join us for this community endeavor, contact, Erika Simms, Programs Coordinator, Richmond Food Security Society (604)-244-7377 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
